Smiling Mind - Expanding mental health in primary schools

Smiling Mind has a phenomenal, evidence-based digital program to improve the mental health of primary school students. We are excited to announce that we are supporting Smiling Mind to expand this work to reach over 6,000 more schools.

$4.55m in new grants awarded

At our March meeting of the Board, grants ranging from $50,000 to $1m were awarded to eight organisations working across our current focus areas. They included three Signature Grants to Smiling Mind, ACRE (Australian Centre for Rural Entrepreneurship) and The Alannah and Madeline Foundation.

DeadlyScience: Educating the STEM leaders of the future

Deadly Stem in Schools provide hands-on learning experiences to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in regional and remote schools. The program integrates Indigenous STEM knowledge and perspectives, fostering cultural pride and empowering students to connect their own heritage with modern scientific principles.

Prison Network: Supporting the caregivers of children with mothers in prison

When a child's mother suddenly goes to prison, the impacts can be profound, and for new caregivers in Victoria there are currently no resources or support tailored to these unique circumstances. A recent grant ensures new caregivers have the resources to effectively parent the children in their care, contributing to the stability and functioning of the family unit.

Deakin University: Creating a 'one stop shop' knowledge hub on school avoidance

This project will be the first in Australia to create a centre of knowledge that provides attendance-specific information, resources, and practices for families and schools alike. We are co-funding the initiative with The Ross Trust.

Education Equity Alliance: Working together to achieve equity across our education system and its classrooms

The Brian M. Davis Charitable Foundation and the William Buckland Foundation are providing support for an alliance of key education equity stakeholders to work with students, teachers and families to improve outcomes (academic, wellbeing, inclusion) in low-SES school settings.

Thread Together: Addressing environmental concerns as well as providing dignity to vulnerable people

Retailers have warehouses full of clothing they have not been able to sell – and all too often, that clothing ends up in landfill or is destroyed. The Foundation has committed $300,000 over three years to the ‘Supporting Disadvantaged Children and Young People in Victoria’ initiative which is expected to directly benefit 18,000 people.
